NEW YORK — BlueLight.com and Kmart Corp. on Thursday jointly announced the promotion of Steve Ryman to vice president and general merchandise manager of four-month-old BlueLight, the online discounter that is 60 percent-owned by Kmart.
In his new post, Ryman, 46, will oversee and liaise all aspects of merchandising and vendor marketing between BlueLight.com and Kmart.
Since 1998, Ryman had been a vice president of merchandise at Kmart, overseeing the proprietary Martha Stewart Everyday brand of home and garden goods. He will continue to coordinate the Martha Stewart line, set to bow at BlueLight this summer.
“Steve Ryman is an outstanding merchant, with 24 years of retail experience,” Floyd Hall, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Kmart said in a statement. “His ability to manage across categories and work successfully with suppliers to ensure disciplined execution of merchandising strategies will be of great benefit to Kmart and BlueLight.com.”
