NEW YORK — Bill Wackermann, 34, has been named publisher of Details.
Most recently, he was associate publisher of Conde Nast Traveler, and before that held a similar post at House and Garden. Earlier he was corporate manager of Vanity Fair.
Details, which will be repositioned as a young men’s fashion magazine with a rate base of 400,000, will be published by Fairchild Publications, parent of WWD, beginning in October.
Wackermann starts April 24.
“Bill’s breadth and depth of experience, not to mention his track record in luxury goods, guarantees a successful launch and long life for Details,” said Mary Berner, president and chief executive officer of Fairchild.
“My job is to spread the word about the new Details,” said Wackermann. “If advertising support is as powerful as the reaction, we’ll be on our way.”
As reported last week, Daniel Peres, European editor for W, was named editor in chief of Details.
Conde Nast and Fairchild are divisions of Advance Publications.
