NEW YORK — Saks Inc. on Friday named John D. Wendler executive vice president of marketing.
Wendler’s responsibilities include coordinating marketing and sales promotion for the company’s traditional and specialty department store businesses. In this new post, Wendler will report to Robert Mosco, president of merchandising and chief operating officer.
Mosco said in a statement that Wendler’s leadership and expertise would be instrumental in driving sales and improving the company’s profitability. Wendler was senior vice president of marketing for Fruit of the Loom Inc. from 1995 through 1999, where he was responsible for marketing strategies for the FTL, Gitano and BVD brands. FTL is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
Saks operates more than 350 stores under such names as Saks Fifth Avenue, Off-5th, Proffitt’s, McRae’s, Younkers and Carson Pirie Scott. The company also operates Saks Direct, which includes the Folio and Bullock & Jones catalogs.
