NEW YORK — Add this new title to the list of upstart magazines: List.
Set to launch in mid-June, the quirky quarterly is the brainchild of Serge Becker, an architect and owner of New York night spot Joe’s Pub, who plans an initial print run of 10,000 copies.
Becker described List as a general interest magazine that covers fashion, politics, design, art and music through endless and sundry lists, some in words, some in pictures.
The debut issue includes the guest list for the launch party for Talk magazine, a list of model salaries, a playlist of music at fashion shows and a list of fabrics and inspiration for designer Katayone Adeli’s fall collection.
Contributors include photographers Philip-Lorca diCorcia and Nan Goldin and art director Doug Lloyd.
Becker said he’s targeting media-savvy, urban folks who live in New York and Los Angeles. “It’s very much about our world, for us who work in media, fashion and art,” he said.
Confirmed fashion advertisers so far include Final Home and APC, he said.
List will be published by Becker and Internet entrepreneur Michael Donahue, who invested in the venture.
The large-format glossy, with the first issue expected to weigh in at 180 pages, will sell for $15 at specialty book stores, newsstands, boutiques and hotels owned by Andre Balasz and Ian Schrager.
Street posters announcing the arrival of List are slated to go up in New York and Los Angeles later this month.
