NEW YORK — Shiseido’s U.S. salon division is shifting chief executives.
Robert Seidl has been named president and chief executive officer of Zotos International, which markets hair care, permanent waves and hair colors to salons under a variety of brand names, including Quantum, Bain de Terre, ISO and Senscience.
Seidl, whose appointment is effective June 1, is succeeding Hironobu Asada, who is returning to Japan for an unspecified new position at the Shiseido Tokyo corporate headquarters.
Seidl joined Zotos in July 1999 as vice president and general manager for sales and marketing for Zotos’ ISO division. Prior to joining Zotos, Seidl spent 14 years at Helene Curtis Professional, where he managed the development and launch of the ISO wave and hair care brands as general manager. Zotos acquired the Helene Curtis Professional division — which includes ISO — in December 1996.
Seidl is the second president and ceo appointed to Zotos in less than a year and a half. Asada, who had been vice president of Beaute Prestige International, a Japanese-based Shiseido Cosmetics subsidiary, assumed the post in January 1999, after previous Zotos president, chief executive, and chairman Isao Isejima was named chairman and ceo of Shiseido Cosmetics (America) Ltd. and chairman and ceo of Shiseido’s Regional Headquarters for the Americas. He remains chairman of Zotos, and adds the title of associate director of Shiseido Co. Ltd. on June 1.
