NEW YORK — Nordstrom Inc. is planning to open a store in downtown Cincinnati, as well as anchor a new mall in nearby Deerfield Township, according to city officials.
Nordstrom has announced a national expansion plan to take place over the next few years to include some of the country’s top 50 metropolitan markets, including Chicago; Boca Raton, Fla.; and Charlotte and Durham, N.C. On May 4, the Seattle-based retailer said it had signed a letter of intent with the Rouse Company to build a two-level store of 165,000 square feet at the Nashville Center in Nashville.
Nordstom’s move in Cincin-nati would include a 158,000-square-foot store on top of a parking garage at Fifth and Race Streets to open in 2003. The deal is contingent upon an incentive package from the city, according to local press reports.
