BODY BY REEBOK: Reebok plans a summer launch for its global fitness program, which will encompass retail partnerships, fitness programs, e-commerce, interactive marketing and new products.
As part of the plan, Reebok will introduce a core training program designed to improve participants’ cardiovascular performance and enhance balance and flexibility.
The company is setting up an instructor alliance consisting of 65,000 fitness professionals who will be able to interact online and recommend products to their students that can be purchased at retail. There are also plans to post fitness news and program information.
Kathy O’Connell Johnson, vice president of fitness and interactive marketing at Reebok, said, “Reebok is putting 15 years of fitness know-how into a comprehensive, multi-tiered innovative program that offers something for consumers of all fitness levels.”

BURTON’S NEW GUY: Jeff Boliba has joined Burton as resort and LTR (learn-to-ride) program manager. He will be based at his home in Park City, Utah, until Sept. 1, when he relocates to Burton’s corporate offices in Burlington, Vt.
In this newly created post, Boliba will work with the American Association of Snowboard Instructors to enhance teaching methods and improve products. He will also be working with Burton’s marketing team to help Burton-supported resorts market to snowboarders and gain exposure for their LTR programs. Most recently, Boliba was marketing manager at the Park City Mountain Resort in Utah.

CHAMPION SETS SAIL: Champion Products has been named the exclusive clothing sponsor for Sail Boston 2000, which will be held from July 11-21. Boston is the official race port for the Tall Ships 2000 Series. More than seven million spectators are expected to visit Boston to check out the 200 ships.
Champion’s Sail Boston 2000 collection will consist of T-shirts, crew neck sweatshirts, polo shirts and jackets. Retail prices will range from $18 for a cotton T-shirt to $60 for a fleece jacket. A souvenir collection will be available on site at the festival.
Champion has partnered with Filene’s, a 44-unit chain, to sell the line in 15 of its stores. The special collection will also be offered via Filene’s mail- or phone-order business.
