NEW YORK — Oscar de la Renta’s fall collection continued on a blistering pace, hitting $1.3 million in sales at a five-day trunk show at Bergdorf Goodman.
The fall show, which ended May 19, also topped de la Renta’s $1 million generated at Saks Fifth Avenue two weeks earlier.
“Our trunk shows have been absolutely phenomenal,” de la Renta said. “But what makes these results even more fantastic is that the two events were just 10 days apart in the same city. It just goes to show you that Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue have two very distinct clienteles.”
Bestsellers for the week at BG were crewel embroidered jackets and coats ranging from $4,400 to $8,400, leather sportswear from $1,900 to $4,000, and thick cashmere sweaters priced at $2,000. For evening, full-skirted cocktail suits priced at $4,000 were top looks.
A spokeswoman for the store said the results of the event are reflective of a “significant part of our current merchandising strategy.”
