NEW YORK — Sean Barron, who launched the Katayone Adeli fashion firm in 1996 with the designer, has left his post as president of the company, according to sources close to the firm.
A spokesman for Adeli would not comment on Barron’s departure on Friday, but said a statement from the company would be forthcoming.
Barron and Adeli formed the designer sportswear house in 1996 after they resigned together from the Los Angeles contemporary sportswear firm Parallel, where Adeli was designer and Barron was president.
Adeli’s business has taken off in the past year, having opened a 3,500-square-foot flagship on Bond Street in New York and launched secondary and jeans collections in April, which have helped to segment and grow her brand in stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Barneys New York.
Barron also will be selling his ownership in Adeli’s company to the designer, sources said, but the spokesman would not comment on that development, either
