DFS GROUP RENEWS CHANGI AIRPORT LEASE
PARIS — DFS Group Limited, luxury conglomerate LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton’s duty-free retail division, has won a bid to renew its 30,000-square-foot liquor and tobacco concession at Singapore’s Changi airport, the group said in a statement Friday.
DFS, which has operated in Changi since 1986, also has been awarded a new 1,200-square-foot concession to sell wine, which will be located in Terminal 2 of the airport, the statement added.
“This was a highly competitive bidding process,” said DFS president and chief executive officer Edward Brennan. DFS did not name its competitors in the bidding process.
The concessions, which last for three years starting Dec. 1, renew DFS’s exclusive contract to sell liquor and tobacco products in 10 shops in Changi’s Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
The contract also gives DFS the exclusive license to retail liquor and tobacco duty free in downtown Singapore’s preorder shops.
In addition, DFS will continue 10 other retail units in Changi, including shops selling fashion and accessories.
DFS recently won a bid to set up shop in Inchon International Airport in Seoul, South Korea. Its existing concessions in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco also have been renewed recently.
