TAYGAN JOINS DISNEY: Selma Taygan has joined Disney as vice president and general manager of apparel for North America. She will be based at the company’s headquarters in Burbank, Calif., and report to Roger Wyett, senior vice president of global apparel.
Most recently, Taygan was global director of research, product, materials and environment at Nike.
She is the third senior executive to join Disney this year since Andy Mooney, another Nike veteran, was named president of Disney Consumer Products.
JONES INKS DEALS: Jones Apparel Group said Thursday that it has signed a letter of intent with Mainstream Swimwear Inc. to license the Jones New York brand for women’s swimwear.
Mainstream will begin to design and market product for the 2001 cruise
season, with plans to have product delivered in December.
Simultaneously, Jones Apparel Group and Signal Apparel Co. have mutually agreed to terminate its Jones New York swimwear license. The companies signed the licensing pact in 1998. The Jones New York Swimwear showroom will be located in Mainstream’s
showroom at 1411 Broadway.
AND ONE MOVES OUT: And One, a basketball apparel and footwear manufacturer, has relocated its corporate headquarters in Pennsylvania from Rosemont to Paoli. The company’s 105 employees now work out of a 32,000-square-foot site which is triple the size of its former one.
To show off its new digs to retailers and the media, And One plans to host a private party for about 250 people next month. There are plans to unveil its And One spring apparel line and to stage a step show, a dance performance by a fraternity, a company spokeswoman said.
