NEW YORK — Robert B. Chavez has apparently gone from hair to Hermes.
Chavez, who just two months ago became president at the French beauty and accessories firm Frederic Fekkai & Co., has left that post and landed a top management job at Hermes Paris Inc., likely as president, WWD learned Thursday.
Laurent Mommeja-Hermes, currently president and chief executive officer of Hermes Paris Inc., the U.S. division of the company, declined to comment.
Chavez’s background includes eight years as ceo of Etienne Aigner, the leather goods and footwear firm, as well as a six-year stint at Macy’s East, where he rose to president of merchandising, overseeing cosmetics, fragrances, accessories and footwear. Chavez also spent nine years at Bloomingdale’s as a divisional merchandising manager for cosmetics and fragrances. He had taken the Fekkai job in mid-May of this year.
Chavez will be succeeded at Fekkai by Lori Perella, formerly the firm’s chief financial and administrative officer. Perella’s new title will be senior vice president and general manager of Frederic Fekkai & Co., a joint venture between Chanel and Frederic Fekkai, to whom she reports.
“Lori has been a major presence in managing the Fekkai business all along,” Arie Kopelman, president and chief operating officer of Chanel, told WWD.
“This promotion recognizes Lori’s tremendous contribution to growing the Fekkai business and her success to date,” Fekkai said in a statement. “She totally understands my philosophy that the most simple and the most natural is always the most beautiful. I’m confident that Lori has the expertise and commitment to ensure we communicate this message in all areas of our business.”
