NEW YORK – The Atlantic Monthly didn’t even have an editor in chief in 2005, but that didn’t stop it from racking up eight National Magazine Award nominations, announced this morning by the American Society of Magazine Editors. The magazine got the nod in seven different categories, including the top honor, general excellence, in its circulation range, 250,000 to 300,000.
Other titles to receive multiple nominations were: The Virginia Quarterly Review (6), GQ (5), Harper’s (5), National Geographic (5), New York (5), and The New Yorker (5).
The winners will be named at a May 9 ceremony.
