Banana Republic’s vice president of women’s design, Melloney Birkett, applied the safe, reality-based design philosophy of layering a sporty structured jacket, such as a cocoon shape, a parka or a zippered, cotton moto style, over a basic shirt and denim of all fits: skinny, slouchy and baggy boyfriend. The lineup, done in black, white, blush and indigo, reflected basic street trends.

The men’s offering from Michael Anderson, vice president of men’s design, was younger with a more casual approach and more form-fitting silhouettes throughout. A clear example of this refreshed direction included a resin-coated denim peacoat paired with a funnel-neck sweater and a pair of sleek fitted khakis.
