Accessible designer clothes. That has always been the idea behind bridge sportswear and ready-to-wear, and ever since the category came onto the scene 20-odd years ago, it has grown — albeit not without some pain. Today, the term encompasses a diverse mix that goes far beyond its career-gal roots to include diffusion and casual contemporary collections from many of the better-known names in fashion.
