Bobbi Brown is celebrating her 50th birthday this spring with the release of her fourth book, “Bobbi Brown Living Beauty,” which hits stores this March.

In the tome, Brown aims to redefine beauty for women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond.

“It’s not about looking younger, but looking good,” said Brown, founder and chief executive officer of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. “It requires a lot of energy and work to make yourself a healthy, vibrant person, but as we get older, there’s no reason we can’t do just that.”

Published by Springboard Press Hachette Book Group USA, the $29.99 volume offers Brown’s detailed tips on skin care, makeup, nutrition, fitness, style, philosophy and attitude along with advice from celebrities Susan Sarandon, Ann Curry, Vanessa Williams and Lorraine Bracco.

According to Maureen Case, president of Bobbi Brown, the Estée Lauder-owned brand had double-digit growth following the release of Brown’s last book, “Beauty Evolution.” In fact, according to Case, this year has been one of Brown’s strongest in all categories. “We’re delighted to have her out there as an author because it expands the reach of the brand’s audience and elevates her message beyond cosmetics,” said Case.

Case views Brown’s work as an opportunity to expand the Bobbi Brown brand internationally; the book will be sold in the U.K., Australia, South Africa and translated into German. The company hopes to sell the book in Spain, Japan, China and South Korea. By yearend the brand will be in about 39 markets including Russia, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. “We’re looking to grow the brand this year by over 20 percent internationally,” said Case, who noted that this year’s international sales exceeded U.S. sales, accounting for 52 percent of the company’s business.

Brown is especially excited about one of her new book’s chapters, “The Makeup Face Lift: Surgery-Free Ways to Wipe Away the Years,” which describes how makeup can have the same effect as a facelift.

“The whole point of the book is helping women make choices,” said Brown. “You don’t have to have plastic surgery to be attractive and beautiful. I truly believe women are more beautiful without it.”
