NEW YORK — Dana Buchman, Marc Ecko and Nicole Miller have been elected to the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s 26-member board of directors.

They are among the first new board officials since the CFDA instituted a six-year term limit to those positions in 2002 to allow more members an opportunity to participate in the organization’s governance. Those who have completed their terms continue to advise the CFDA on organizational matters through its President’s Advisory Council, which is made up of Linda Allard, Alexander Julian, Donna Karan, Kasper, Mary McFadden and Monika Tilley.

“The process works,” said CFDA president Stan Herman. “The newly elected designers bring a fresh vision to board matters, while those who have moved on to the President’s Advisory [Council] remain a vital part of the decision-making process.”

In addition to Buchman, Ecko, Miller and Herman, the board comprises Joseph Abboud, Jeffrey Banks, Kenneth Cole, Oscar de la Renta, Louis Dell’Olio, Carlos Falchi, Carolina Herrera, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Reed Krakoff, Ralph Lauren, Robert Lee Morris, Mary Ann Restivo, Kate Spade, Cynthia Steffe, Yeohlee Teng, Patricia Underwood, John Varvatos, Diane von Furstenberg, Vera Wang and Gerard Yosca.
