LONDON — Brian Blake, part of Domenico De Sole’s turnaround team at Gucci, is expected to join Burberry next month as its president worldwide, according to industry sources.
Blake, formerly an executive vice president at Gucci Group and president and chief executive officer of Boucheron, was among the top managers to leave Gucci after the news that the contracts of creative director Tom Ford and ceo De Sole would not be renewed.
In his post at Burberry, he will replace Tom O’Neill, who is leaving in July. An announcement of Blake’s appointment is expected this week, and he is expected to join the company later this month.
A Burberry spokeswoman declined to comment Friday.
Blake joined Gucci in 1987, holding various positions, including president of Gucci America and president and ceo of the Gucci division. In February 2003, he replaced Massimo Macchi as Boucheron’s ceo.
As reported, O’Neill is leaving Burberry to become ceo of Harry Winston Inc., and president of Aber Diamond Corp., which controls Winston.
