CJ Yao graduated from London’s Central Saint Martins in 2012 and has been known to use some pretty unconventional materials, including wood, in her past collections, along with outlandishly exaggerated shapes.

This time around, however, the more conventional choices of silk and jersey, accented by leather embellishments, were the order of the day for this more accessible collection.

A sportswear-influenced collection marked by signature draping and asymmetry made its way down the runway in front of an enthusiastic crowd of Shanghai’s most fashion-forward youngsters.
