NEW YORK — Martin Gatins has been promoted to vice president of Cartier Inc.’s wholesale division, succeeding Eveline Jones, whose new assignment within parent Richemont Group has yet to be confirmed.

Gatins joined Cartier in 1992 as director of the eyewear division for Latin America. Most recently, he was assistant vice president of eyewear for North America. In his new post, he will be responsible for sales and distribution of watches, eyewear, writing instruments, stationery, leather goods and accessories in the U.S. and Canada. Cartier does not wholesale its fine jewelry.

Alain Viot, Cartier’s president and chief executive officer, said Gatins will contribute to the company’s continuing plan to streamline marketing strategies and customer-service activities within the wholesale division to develop a stronger partnership with its dealers.
