The 2001 WWD 100 consumer survey of most-recognized fashion apparel and accessories labels, published Dec. 11, was based purely on consumer awareness of the brands and ranked according to a straightforward percentage of women who said they were “very” or “somewhat” familiar with each brand. There was no element of favoritism in the latest survey, as there had been in previous surveys, therefore, comparisons to prior rankings are not appropriate or applicable in all cases.
