Monique Lhuillier and Raf Simons both lightened things up for resort. Lhuillier showed delicate lace boleros, slender gowns and charming bustle-draped strapless dresses in hand-painted silk organza, and Simons’ first resort collection for Jil Sander captured the spirit of the label with airy shirtdresses and crisp shirts in a palette of icy tones and a shot of electric color.
Max Azria, meanwhile, infused a bohemian beach feel into his collection for resort. His oversized dresses, sweaters and wide-legged pants — more suited to meanderings along a raw, untouched coastline than the ritzy beaches of St. Barth’s or the Riviera — offered the right amount of coziness and ease. Elie Tahari also went natural for the season with feminine silhouettes that featured whimsical prints, subtle textures and jewel tones.
And Vera Wang expanded her Lavender Label collection to include day dresses that are perfect for the season. The line incorporates elements from her ready-to-wear collection, such as pocket details and skinny belts, for a chic, modern effect.
