Worlds collided at 31 Rue Cambon when Karl Lagerfeld opened up Coco Chanel’s historic apartment to a crowd of partiers, including Freida Pinto, Lily Allen and Kate Moss, fresh from her first front-row appearance for Chanel since that infamous cocaine scandal. “She never left, she’s always been a friend of the house,” said Lagerfeld of Moss during the cocktail party, cohosted with Jefferson Hack to fete the launch of Another Magazine’s new tome, Another Fashion Book.
Guests included Cécile Cassel, Rachel Zoe, Mélanie Laurent, Dasha Zhukova, Raquel Zimmermann and Milla Jovovich, who led the dancing to old-school tunes by Mark Ronson. After unleashing the biggest paparazzi frenzy of the week at Chanel’s show, during which the runway was damaged, Moss boogied with a shaded Stefano Pilati before heading to the apartment, where guests enjoyed brief tours. “There are things here from all over the world,” enthused Pinto, pointing to a camel ornament.
Some revelers felt so at home, they flouted the strict no-smoking rule and set off an alarm. “It was probably a combination of all of us,” admitted Moss’ boyfriend, Jamie Hince, The Kills’ front man. “This is a museum,” nervous security guards reminded guests. After a turn on the decks downstairs, Allen posed in a newly acquired pair of Chanel rabbit ears. “Fancy dress is my favorite thing,” she said.
