Junior denim and sportswear resource Hot Kiss on Monday named industry veteran Jay Kester president. In the newly created position Kester will oversee the sales and distribution of the Los Angeles-based company’s sportswear, denim and dress divisions, with a focus on building the brand’s presence in department stores and specialty stores.

Kester was a founding partner of Cherokee Apparel, and has also served as president of Harkham Industries and, most recently, president of Gaiam Organix, a division of Gaiam Inc., which markets Earth-friendly products.

In his new post, he reports to Hot Kiss founder, owner and chief executive Moshe Tsabag.

In addition, Hot Kiss has hired dress and denim account executives Kris Tornatore and Barry Shusterman, who will work out of the Los Angeles showroom. Tornatore formerly sold dresses and juniors clothing for XOXO and Chorus Line Corp. Shusterman served as vice president of juniors resource Rigo International and West Coast sales manager of Silver Jeans. They report to Ben Kazcor, vice president of sales.
