DALLAS — The Dallas Market Center announced 42 finalists in its 28th annual Dallas Fashion Awards competition. The DMC changed the categories a bit, adding Better Classics, After 5 and Denim and expanding men’s wear from a single category into three: Men’s Tailored, Men’s Athletic/Urban and Men’s Sportswear.
A panel of fashion journalists, trend experts and representatives of industry associations picked the nominees in 15 categories, but winners will be determined through a vote of buyers who shop at the International Apparel Mart. They’ll receive their trophies at a formal gala at the Mart on Oct. 26 during spring market week.
The nominees are:
Accessories: Donald J. Pliner, Streets Ahead and Francesco Biasia.
After 5: Chetta B, Kay Unger and Rickie Freeman for Teri Jon Nites.
Contemporary: Cynthia Steffe, Joie and Trina Turk.
Bridge/Designer: Lafayette 148, De Sentino and David Meister.
Denim: Seven for all Mankind, AG Jeans and FRX.
Young Contemporary: Bella Dahl, Juicy Couture and Hard Tail.
Jewelry: R.J. Graziano, Ben-Amun and Seasonal Whispers.
Better Classics: Mac & Jac, Tianello and Blue Ice.
Intimate Apparel: Cosabella, Flora Nikrooz and Fernando Sanchez.
Prom/Pageant: Tiffany Designs, Panoply and Precious Formals.
Bridal: Anjolique Bridal, Maggie Sottero Bridal and Mary’s Bridal.
Children’s Wear: Michael Simon, Trish Scully and Deux Par Deux.
Men’s Tailored: Matteo Mass and Jack Victor.
Men’s Athletic/Urban: Puma and Fubu.
Men’s Sportswear: LaCoste and Nat Nast.
