NEW YORK — Hilary Duff has the starring role in the fall advertising campaign for Candie’s Inc.

The television and print ads, featuring the teen actress-musician, launch the juniors’ brand exclusively at Kohl’s department stores. The print ads will hit teen and entertainment magazines in July with television commercials airing at about the same time.

The campaign was created by Candie’s in-house marketing team and was directed and shot by Moshe Brakha. The TV commercial will feature a track from Duff’s next album, set to be released on Aug. 16.

In late 2004, Candie’s announced its exclusive deal with Kohl’s. Currently, Candie’s footwear and handbags are the remaining categories sold at specialty and department stores, but by January 2007, footwear and handbags will be distributed exclusively at Kohl’s, which has 670 doors in 40 states.

Neil Cole, chief executive officer at Candie’s Inc., said Duff was the perfect fit. “We usually do a search to see which celebrity represents the brand,” said Cole. “Hilary is all grown up, although she’s just going to be 18 [years old] this summer, but she can sell albums, do television and movies. She’s it.”

Duff has 12 movies under her belt and has sold more than 12 million albums. She was recently named one of People magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People” and one of Teen People magazine’s “Hottest Stars Under 25.” Presently, she is filming “Material Girls,” costarring her sister, Haylie, and beginning June 17, Duff can be seen in “A Perfect Man,” costarring Heather Locklear and Chris Noth.
