January is known for its white sales, so it should come as no surprise that this year’s high-profile brides have made their decisions about what to wear on the big day. Jane Lauder is said to be going with a dress by Vera Wang; Emilia Fanjul Jr. will wear Carolina Herrera; Tatiana von Furstenberg has in mind a dress designed by her father, Egon von Furstenberg, and Liz Cohen, who hasn’t quite made up her mind, is gunning for John Galliano.

The apres-ski scene in Sun Valley got a jolt last week when Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, John McEnroe, Bruce Springsteen and Martin Short met for dinner at the Trail Creek Cabin. The restaurant, just north of town, is accessible by horse-drawn sleigh — which in their case also included a big group of children and a nanny to carry the Louis Vuitton duffel holding all the hats, gloves and scarves. Hanks and Springsteen both brought their guitars, and the evening was such a hit that Wilson was heard saying, “Let’s book this on December 29th next year.”
