Plaid and its multiple variations have taken the lead in men’s shirts for the past few seasons. But this fall, designers are leaving the workwear trend behind in favor of the updated stripe. The new pattern is based on a minimalist simplicity, a balance of micro proportions, tonal stripes and a blended-in effect. Look for variations of gray and white, or thin black-and-white pinstripes, some with white contrasting collars, to add an extra layer of refinement to the perfectly tailored dress shirt.
