BOTTOMS UP: Champagne is as omnipresent as cigarettes on the fashion circuit, so Perrier Jouët has tapped a few of the design-minded to celebrate the release of its 1998 Fleur de Champagne. Ford model Patricia Velasquez will host a private dinner Friday at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, Eric Villency will do the honors at the Soho Grand’s penthouse loft Monday and Esteban Cortazar will greet guests Friday at the Raleigh in Miami. The bubbly runs $130 a pop.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN: Carolina Herrera has a full calendar for the next two weeks. She will jet off to L.A. for a taping with Larry King, unveil the third-floor bridal salon in her Madison Avenue boutique, trek to White Plains, N.Y., to host a charitable fashion show at Neiman Marcus, fly to Chicago for a “Portrait of a Fashion Icon” book party and cap off the month with a book signing and signature Barbie launch at FAO Schwarz.

ART AND FACTS: Artist Chuck Close will talk shop with critic Paul Goldberger in front of a live audience Oct. 27 at Parsons The New School for Design’s Tishman Auditorium. Designer Bruce Mau will pull a chair up to Goldberger’s table for a chat on Dec. 15.
