ZAC RACES AHEAD: Zac Posen seems to have caught the collaboration bug. Having just unveiled jeans with Seven For All Mankind, the designer is now teaming up with car firm Jaguar for a collection of driving gloves. Posen created gloves in racing green leather with his signature gunmetal closure. The gloves will be launched in conjunction with the unveiling of Jaguar’s new XK sports coupe at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany on Sept. 12. Posen is expected to present the gloves at his spring 2006 fashion show three days later. The gloves, which retail for $350 a pair, will be available at both Bloomingdale’s stores in Manhattan this fall, with a portion of proceeds of each sale going to the Teachers Count charity.
IVY LEAGUE PRINCESSES: When the curtain goes up today for the Broadway-bound musical comedy “Princesses” at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre, the actresses will be done up in Victorian and Edwardian-inspired finery, thanks to costume designer William Ivey Long.
Piles of velvet and high-neck blouses with “that odd lace around the wrist” are in order for Mary Faber, Sarah Jayne Jensen, Anne Letscher, Moeisha McGill and other actresses attending the “snotty little girls’ school” he said. But Long wasn’t trying to touch upon any fall fashion trends. “I’ve been in Seattle,” he laughed.
