NEW YORK — In their sophomore album, “Filigree and Shadow,” the Eighties cult band This Mortal Coil used haunting melodies and moody lyrics to express their youthful angst, equating the art of twisting precious metals with the vicissitudes of life. Of course, filigree can also be upbeat, as shown here by Christian Livingston’s 14k gold vermeil earrings with amethysts and peridots at Notanonymous, Yvonne Crista’s 22k gold-plated sterling silver necklace with jade and quartz at Apropo and Wendy Mink’s 22k gold vermeil brooch.
