LEGWEAR, WINTERIZED: Capezio is bracing its consumers for the brisk winter months to come. Its new Aloe Vera Transition Tights are made of Body Care By Lycra, a yarn that releases microscopic moisture beads that contain anti-inflammatory and healing properties to soothe dry legs. The moisturizers in the semi-sheer tights, which are available in black, pink and camel, last from 20 to 30 washes. They retail for $16 at Capezio boutiques and specialty stores.
CHIC CARRYALLS: Three-year-old handbag company Eliza Gray held its first Manhattan trunk show on Tuesday in the tony duplex of Stark Carpet owner Andy Stark. The firm’s proprietor, Gita Costa, offered an array of bags for spring, including brightly hued long satin clutches and slouchy leather and linen hobos, all topped off with Costa’s signature crystal studded fob in various shapes like starfish, frogs and elephants. Sales totaled $30,000 for the day, according to Costa.
AND THE AWARD GOES TO: Kata Eyewear, a brand distributed through the New York-based Legacie Accessories, was bestowed with the Innovation in Fashion Sunglasses award at the Silmo d’Or awards in Port de Versailles, France on Oct. 22, for its Beam 2 frame with wooden insets. The awards, which are in their 11th year, are eyewear’s version of the Academy Awards. “It’s a huge honor, because Legacie is only three years old,” said Cliff Robinson, president of Legacie. “Our mission is to be focused on product and design. We always have concepts in the works to bring something fresh [to consumers].”
