PARIS — Designer Christian Lacroix and Christophe Girard, head of fashion strategy at LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, have been cited for merit by the French government.

Both are slated to be awarded the rank of chevalier of the Legion of Honor at a ceremony at Paris City Hall next month.

Girard, 45, who is also deputy mayor of Paris responsible for culture, said he was honored by the recognition of his work in the arts through such organizations as the American Center Foundation.

“It’s an encouragement for more public involvement,” he said.

Lacroix’s citation was awarded by France’s ministry of finance.
