To highlight the white-striped black poncho, asymmetric red T-shirt, drop-crotch shorts and other pieces from Skingraft’s fall 2016 collection, founder Jonny Cota recruited a dozen dancers to pop, lock, leap and spaz out to a throbbing electro beat within a circle lit by fluorescent bars.
In a commemorative collection on display at RVCC, Skingraft chose a signature style from each year of its decadelong history.

An acquaintance of Skingraft founder Jonny Cota, Mayer Hawthorne dressed quite differently from the Goth-tinged crowd. In a sleek Sandro suit, graphic Marc Jacobs socks and shiny Paul Smith sneakers, he still admired the brand’s snakeskin wallets and cropped women’s blazer, which he eyed for his girlfriend. He also appreciated the designs worn by dancers in the presentation. “They were all wearing the clothes and they can move that well. What’s important to me about clothes is you can move in them,” he said.
