NEW YORK — After a four-year hiatus, Tonya Hawkes has returned to Donna Karan International as creative director for DKNY shoes and accessories.

In the newly created post, Hawkes reports to Jane Chung, executive vice president of DKNY Design.

Developing “iconic, luxury DKNY accessories” is a priority for Hawkes, a company spokeswoman said.

Hawkes worked at the company from 1992 to 2000 as director of design for DKNY accessories. More recently, she was creative director at Furla.

Jeffry Aronsson, chief executive officer of DKI, said in a statement last week, “We are very excited to have Tonya back on board. Tonya is a great accessories design talent with a thorough understanding of the DKNY brand DNA and a passion for the brand.”
