PARIS — Reports were circulating here Monday that Event Media may be pulling out of its deal to show next week’s Paris couture collections on closed-circuit television in the U.S.

“We’ve heard that rumor, too,” said a tele-sales agent who answered the 800 number in the U.S. for ticket sales Monday. “We haven’t been told whether that’s the case. As far as I know, all systems are go.”

According to a couture source here, the Chambre Syndicale informed executives from several couture houses at a meeting Monday morning that Event Media had abandoned the project because of poor ticket sales.

Executives of Event Media, organizer of “Haute Couture Worldview” and the executive director of The Fashion Group International — the people responsible for putting on the telecast — did not return phone calls seeking comment Monday. Chambre president Jacques Mouclier could not be reached for comment.

Event Media had signed a deal with the Chambre to broadcast the collections into auditoriums in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Within the last several days, as reported, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel and Pierre Cardin all pulled out of the deal. There were also reports of slow ticket sales.
