NEW YORK — Legendary launch pad Henri Bendel recently hosted a battalion of beauty editors for its twice-yearly presentation of new products. Here, some of the freshest new offerings.

The inspiration of established color brands seemed to channel the woman warrior for fall. Diane von Furstenberg introduced the DVF Glamazonian compact, alluding to the forceful female embodied in her runway collection. The compact will launch in August and consists of six eye colors for $45. Other hot offerings at the breakfast included Laura Mercier’s latest — a collection of decadent shadows for $19, cheek tints at $22 and lipsticks for $19 each — called Lady Luxe; Trish McEvoy’s Be Prepared Pink Powder Puff for $22 and Little Black Card at $38 for touch-ups, and Benefit’s Black Orchid line.


Fragonard, the classic French fragrance purveyor, bowed at Bendel’s in June. Citing a philosophy of sincerity and authenticity, this Grasse-based company is run by the great-granddaughters of its founders. The existing 35 stockkeeping unit line will be joined by an additional 24 skus that will include men’s offerings, such as after-shave balm and shower gel, as well as three new fragrances for women and four unisex eaux de toilette under the Confidential line for fall 2004.


Renowned dentist Jonathan Levine has created the latest sensation in the teeth-whitening industry. GoSmile’s products include the GoSmile Starter Kit, retailing for $75, which provides a complete whitening system of twice-a-day use for 14 days, as well as the GoSmile daily Vanity Jar, priced at $88, which contains 40 ampoules to complete the whitening system. The brand will launch a new product line this fall, called GoSmile Daily, said to address the epidemic of over-whitening in the beauty market. GoSmile daily is a diluted solution that erases stains caused by food, coffee, wine, and smoking without harming the teeth. The formulation also has a breath freshener and an antioxidant to polish teeth and kill bacteria.


The growing GABA (gamma amino butynic acid) cult will be pleased with Freeze 24/7’s newest potions. Eyecicles, priced at $95, claims to remove puffiness and tone the eye area with the avowed in-house muscle relaxant. Ice Cream Ultimate Anti-Aging Facial Moisturizing Treatment, for $80, is said to be a triple-action hydrator. Idebenone, an antioxidant, has been added to increase the efficacy of the product. Both products will make their debut this month.


Tarte presented its pink go Dutch clutch, priced at $22, as the perfect purse “in the age of the right-hand ring.” Also coming in September from Tarte is the $12 Heart-to-Tarte slide tin lip balm. Proceeds from the light pink product duo will go to the Young Survival Coalition for breast cancer awareness for women under 40 years old.


Comodynes Convenient Cosmetics, a Barcelona-based skin care company, introduced three newly upgraded products that fuse fun and convenience. Revamped in December 2003, but available only in select Nordstrom stores and limited other retailers until recently, Hydra Stick ($15) features apple and ginseng to protect skin from free radicals; Instant Beauty Spray ($14 for three mini sprays) contains toning vegetable extracts, and Anti-Fatigue Facial Mask ($14 for two pots with approximately four usages each) has vitamin C. The brand’s goal is to provide portable skin care products that can serve multiple purposes.


Antiwrinkle breakthrough StriVectin-SD is the latest craze and can be used to diminish the looks of not only wrinkles but stretch marks, as well. It is a deep-penetrating, bioactive formula that increases the synthesis of new collagen. You can find StriVectin-SD in a 6-oz. size ($135) that contains a four- to six-week supply.


Agent Provocateur is getting a little more provocative with the newest addition to its line. Titillation, priced at $35, is a Nipple Balm and Lip Balm duo. The Nipple Balm features wild indigo extract intended to stimulate pleasurable sensations and Paraguayan honey leaf for a firming effect, while the lip balm contains peptide to give the appearance of fuller lips. The racy offering will make its debut in September 2004.
