POLO’S VIRTUAL PROMOTION: Taking aim at fashion-conscious teens, Polo Jeans on Monday launched a multichannel promotion entitled Red, White and New, comprising a virtual dressing room at YM.com, where visitors can view spring looks and then link to macys.com to buy the items. Also part of the campaign are a Polo Jeans SUV that’s touring college campuses through May 4, when it will conclude at Columbia University; a YM-sponsored “Spring Frenzy” fashion show, exclusively featuring Polo Jeans at the Macy’s Flower Show in San Francisco, and a program encouraging students to donate used jeans to Swift Denim in exchange for a discount on Polo Jeans at macys.com. Swift plans to make a donation to the Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation based on the number of jeans collected.

TIED UP IN CONGRESS: Liz Claiborne Inc. has sent all members of Congress neckties and scarves in hopes they will be worn to show solidarity against violence toward women. Claiborne designed and donated the accessories as part of a effort with Lifetime Television during its “Stop Violence Week in Washington.”
