– MACY’S TURNS A NEW LEAF: To celebrate Earth Week and support the National Park Foundation, Macy’s Inc. will stage a “Turn Over a New Leaf” promotion April 20-27. On Earth Day, April 22, Macy’s will give free saplings to the first 100 customers in each store and a National Park Foundation “Kid Power” activity and coloring book to the first 100 kids. A 100 percent cotton reusable tote bag from Cotton Inc. will be free to the first 150 customers in each store April 26, and sell for $3.95 with $1 benefiting the foundation. Origins, Hush Puppies, DKNY and Macy’s private brands Style & Co. Sport and Haven by Hotel Collection also are providing eco-friendly merchandise. The store will sell tickets to a charity shopping event April 26-27 offering 20 percent off most fashion and 10 percent off most home items. Other activities include an online sweepstakes; an essay contest; shopping sprees, and an America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands Pass.

– DALLAS FASHION: Barneys New York will kick off the third season of Fashion at the Park tonight at NorthPark Center in Dallas with a runway show. Stores will present spring looks in a tent complex that mimics the look of fashion week in New York. In addition to Barneys, the stores include Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Nordstrom, CH Carolina Herrera, Giorgio Armani, Custo Barcelona, Bebe, Diesel, Intermix, Miss Sixty and Dillard’s. Oscar de la Renta is the only retailer that plans to show fall fashions. Neiman’s will wrap up the event Saturday night with an invitation-only dinner and show of eveningwear by Naeem Khan.

– MADDEN BUYING MORE SHARES: Steven Madden Ltd. on Tuesday said it plans to buy 2.6 million common shares at $17 a share, totaling $44.2 million and representing about 12.9 percent of the outstanding shares. The purchase is part of its “Dutch Auction” tender offer, which expired on March 18. Including the purchase, Steven Madden owns about 17.6 million shares.
