OFF THE SLOPE: Ski and snowboard pants are off the China safeguard quota hit list. The federal Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements said imports of ski and snowboard pants from China were not causing a disruption in the U.S. marketplace and starting Tuesday can be brought into the country unhindered. The two products were included in the broader category of man-made fiber trousers that were put under safeguard quotas in May and have been embargoed since Aug. 3. Ski and snowboard pants that were embargoed will be released. CITA said it received new information indicating that there is minimal domestic production of the limited-use product and that the exclusion doesn’t undermine the safeguard case for man-made fiber trousers.
