PAYLESS ADDS AMERICAN EAGLE: Payless ShoeSource has purchased the American Eagle brand name of women’s and men’s footwear and accessories from Jimlar Corp., which has been producing footwear and accessories for select department and specialty stores worldwide. Terms of the sale were not disclosed. Beginning in spring 2007, the American Eagle brand of footwear and accessories will be available exclusively at Payless stores and on American Eagle joins Champion, Airwalk, Spalding and Shaquille O’Neal-endorsed Dunkman and the Dunkman Game shoe lines already available at Payless stores and on Earlier this week, Payless also announced an alliance with American Ballet Theatre to feature an ABT co-branded line of dance shoes and select dance accessories exclusively in Payless stores and on At the end of first-quarter 2006, the company operated 4,602 stores.

JUICY ADDITION: Juicy Couture has signed a licensing agreement with New York-based Tawil Associates Inc. to manufacture, distribute and market Juicy Couture girls’ and boys’ apparel for newborns and infants, as well as layette sizes 0-24 months. Juicy Couture Baby will be shown to better department and specialty store retailers in October for June 2007 delivery.

FOLLOWING THE TRAIN: SODES/FFPAPF, producer of The Train trade show, said Tuesday it will launch a new ready-to-wear and accessories trade show, Platform 2, which will take place in New York, Sept. 18 to 20, at Roseland Ballroom. Show hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., on the first two days, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the final day. Platform 2, which will be juried, aims to present 60 international bridge and contemporary collections. Roughly 50 percent of the show will consist of European collections; 30 percent, North American collections, and 20 percent, lines from Asia and elsewhere. A Web site,, will be launched shortly.
