ROSSI NAMES PRESIDENT: Sandie Samuells has been named president of Sergio Rossi North America. She replaces Rebecca Blair, who left the firm more than a year ago. Samuells reports to Isabelle Guichot, who is chief executive officer of Rossi and director of business development at Gucci Group. Samuells will oversee retail, wholesale and communication responsibilities for the North America business. Previously, she was vice president of wholesale and general merchandise manager for retail at Bally.
TURKISH TACTIC: Benetton said it is forming a 50-50 joint venture with its Turkish licensee, Boyner Group, to manage and develop Benetton brands in Turkey and other nearby regions. Boyner has been producing Benetton clothing through a licensing agreement since 1985. Benetton said it invested 14 million euros, or $18.3 million at current exchange rates, for its 50 percent stake in the venture, which will be called Benetton Giyim Sanayi. Benetton said the new company should post 2005 revenue of about 40 million euros, or $52.4 million, and that sales should grow by about 50 percent over the next five years. Currently, there are about 100 Benetton stores in Turkey.
