Nicknamed “La Belle Isabell” by the Berlin fashion community, designer Isabell de Hillerin did indeed appear to be moving in the direction of pretty over artisanal for spring. While de Hillerin remains devoted to strengthening local textile craftsmen in Romania and Moldavia, this season saw a new polish with a more refined version of her contemporary handcrafted styles. A short-sleeve top in a traditional open-work stripe, for example, was encased by a long-sleeve organza skimmer top, the crisp cuffs matching the top’s banded bottom.
Her dress-athletic looks were some of Berlin’s best, including a black silk voile shirt with a sheer inset, worn with sage crepe pintucked shorts, as well as a black silk voile blouse and black silk crepe pants, the front sporting a sheer stripe created by pulling the fabric’s threads together.
