Bright blue was the starting point for men’s wear designer Ivan Mandzukic, who was inspired by portrait paintings of the Thirties. “But I added contrasting colors on the tips of the shirt collars to break up the single-color looks,” he noted. The tone-on-tone theme was prominent on a hunter green, light wool suit with an internal drawstring detail on the blazer, as well as a black collarless shirt tucked into black pleated Bermuda shorts. There was also some mixing and matching: green suit pants were paired with a collarless white shirt and a cotton blouson jacket with sloping shoulders in the palest of pinks.
Mandzukic said some details were a happy accident, such as the grid of loose threads that hung from fitted blue mohair sweaters: “I just put them there to begin a pattern, and then thought, ‘Hey, that looks good.’”
