NEW YORK — Jay Margolis, veteran of Esprit de Corp., Tommy Hilfiger and Liz Claiborne Inc., may have landed another big one.
According to sources, Margolis is expected shortly to be named group president over Reebok International’s Rockport, Ralph Lauren footwear and Greg Norman divisions.
Neither Margolis nor Reebok officials could be reached for comment. However, sources said the executive plans to relocate to the Boston area.
Most recently, Margolis was president and chief executive officer of E7th.com, a footwear and accessories sourcing Web site, which after four months, shut down last month following the financial pullout of its high-profile investors. Those investors included MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings Inc., Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Private Equity and Charles River Venture.
From January 1996 to January 2000, Margolis served as president and chief executive officer of Esprit, prior to which he was president and vice chairman of Tommy Hilfiger USA Inc. Earlier, he was vice chairman of Liz Claiborne Inc.
As reported, David Perdue was named president of the Reebok brand, effective Jan. 1. He had been executive vice president of the global operating units.
