ST. LOUIS — Joseph Marre, former president and chairman of Leppert-Roos Inc., one of the nation’s oldest retail furriers before it closed two years ago, died Monday at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center here. The cause of death was heart failure, according to his wife, Marjorie.

Marre, 81, headed the company for many years before retiring in 1979. His grandfather was one of the early principals in the company, which was founded in 1867.

Services will be held today at 10 a.m. at Annunziata Catholic Church in suburban Ladue, Mo.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters.
