Yves Saint Laurent drives women wild. Since his debut, a bevy of influential, style-savvy women the world over have fallen for Saint Laurent’s singular chic. There’s muse Betty Catroux, icon Catherine Deneuve and loyal devotees Loulou Klossowski, Paloma Picasso, Bianca Jagger and, of course, Nan Kempner, who, during the designer’s first season at Dior, had her heart set on his white satin sheath and matching jacket. “I wanted that outfit very badly, but my mother insisted I couldn’t afford it,” Kempner once said. “I cried so much that they brought him downstairs to meet me.”
