HONG KONG — Lane Crawford, Hong Kong’s venerable specialty retailer, is preparing to move from its oldest location, Lane Crawford House in Central. The landmark store will be replaced with a new one set to open late this year.
The new store will be at the International Finance Centre, a multi-use complex that features a shopping mall, cinema, office towers and a soon-to-open Four Seasons hotel. Other stores at the IFC mall include Kate Spade, Mango, Zara, Furla, agnès b., Joan & David, Boss Hugo Boss and Vivienne Tam.
The new Lane Crawford will take up 82,000 square feet on a single floor, Penthouse Level Three. A spokesman for the retailer confirmed that the company has hired Yabu Pushelberg, the New York- and Toronto-based architectural and design firm, for the interior design. Yabu Pushelberg’s other projects have included Tiffany & Co.’s New York flagship, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, The W Hotels and the Four Seasons Japan and Hong Kong.
Lane Crawford, which opened in 1850, is Hong Kong’s best-known purveyor of luxury goods, including designer clothing and footwear, home furnishings, jewelry and cosmetics. The new store will replace the Queen’s Road Central location, which is 70,000 square feet on six levels, including a cafe, florist and salon.
The IFC store will be the company’s largest. Lane Crawford’s other locations include Pacific Place, Times Square and Canton Road in Hong Kong, and Shanghai, Harbin and Hangzhou in China.
