NEW YORK — Ralph Lauren’s women’s collection is off to a galloping start, as the company just posted a 15 percent increase in fall orders at its annual trunk show at the Rhinelander Mansion flagship.
Sales of fall merchandise topped $1.9 million for the sales event this month, led by advanced buzz about the Edwardian-inspired collection. That’s in comparison with sales of $1.7 million at the fall trunk show a year ago.
Among the top sellers were a $1,795 leather Cambridge jacket, a suede blouse at $2,495, a black tiered skirt around $1,295 and a beaded top worn by Carmen Kass in Lauren’s fall show that sold for $3,995. Also a bestseller was a $3,795 black, off-the-shoulder dress shown on the cover of the July issue of Town & Country, as well as inside the July issue of Elle on Penelope Cruz.
