NEW YORK — The cosmetics department at Barneys New York is in for some major changes this coming year.
Maree Lavo, vice president and divisional merchandise manager for cosmetics, will be leaving at the end of the month after seven years with the company. Lavo’s future plans are unclear. She could not be reached for comment and a Barneys spokeswoman did not know where Lavo would be working next. The spokeswoman did, however, say that Lavo would not be working for one of Barneys’ competitors.
Lavo’s replacement is Chris Czajkowski, a cosmetics buyer at Barneys who will serve as vice president and divisional merchandise manager of cosmetics upon her departure. Czajkowski previously worked at Saks Fifth Avenue.
As reported in October, Barneys cosmetics department will move to the “lower level” currently occupied by the popular lunch spot Fred’s. The change will take place in fall 2001.
